There will be a celebration this weekend to commemorate Bethlehem's Main Street's recent USA Today award as the greatest in the nation.
Downtown Bethlehem will host a "#1 Main Street Celebration" from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 29. It will include live entertainment, vendor discounts, and more.
There will be specials and discounts on different items and stores. In addition to a classic car display, face painting, balloon art, and a "Christmas in Bethlehem" live advent calendar with Santa Claus as the emcee, the event, organized by the Downtown Bethlehem Association, will take place outside the Goundie House and include performances by the Bach Choir, Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites, and Touchstone Theatre.
On the last day of Historic Bethlehem Summer Restaurant Week, more than a dozen downtown Bethlehem restaurants will offer prix-fixe meals and other promotions as part of the #1 Main Street Celebration. Fegley's Bethlehem Brew Works, Apollo Grill, The Flying Egg, Tapas on Main, Edge Restaurant, Mediterranean Grill, The Melting Pot, McCarthy's Red Stag Pub & Whiskey Bar, Urbano Mexican Kitchen & Bar, The Brick, Twisted Olive, Mama Nina's, and 515 Main are among the eateries that are taking part.
The Downtown Bethlehem Association is excited for this celebration, wanting all to come down and celebrate and enjoy the greatest Main Street in America!
Bethlehem's Main Street won the title of "Best Main Street" in USA Today's 10 Best Main Street competition in the spring, defeating well-known places like Salem, Massachusetts; Lake Placid, New York; and Cooperstown, New York. The competition began when Bethlehem's Main Street was listed by USA Today as one of the top 20 locations that provide live history, have a thriving culture, and serve as the heartbeat of their communities in March.
