The proprietors of Giacomo's Italian Market and Grille, located on College Hill in Easton, are launching their second location two years after they first set eyes on the property.
On Saturday, Giacomo's at 4041 William Penn Highway in Palmer Township will open. The new business, located in the former Miller's Paint & Wallpaper building, will open at 11 a.m., according to owner Sal Famularo. It has been a long journey. He stated, "It is something we have been wanting to do for a long time." "Compared to the College Hill store, it is a smaller space, but we still wanted it."The constant opening of new locations was the aim. However, the time was not ideal. We decided to take a chance and go for it with this position.
According to Famularo, a number of issues, such as finishing personnel and attending to a busy summer season at the current store, caused the opening to be delayed. "The procedure has just been so lengthy," he remarked. "But, it feels wonderful to be here at last and have the community's support." People have been requesting the opening date on Giacomo's social media channels for months. The company made the announcement on Thursday.
"We are going to go with it because the timing is appropriate for the family to take that move," Famularo declared. "It is not the time to go back. It is imperative that we take action. Since 2003, Giacomo's has been located at 700 Cattell St. Giacomo's Italian Specialties was the original name of the business, which Famularo's parents, Giacomo and Gina, founded in 1975 in the 1200 block of Washington Street. (Both continue to work five days a week in the company).
In addition to its deli sandwiches and cheesesteaks, Giacomo's is well-liked for its dry goods, slaughtered meats, sausage, and homemade sauces. The Cattell Street store sells exotic meats, cheeses, olives, sweets, pasta, and breakfast and lunch items. The Palmer location is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and serves lunch and dinner. Although the variety would not be as big, it will still feature a lot of the Italian market products that are offered at the Easton store, according to Famularo.
According to Famularo, the new location will run in "soft opening" mode for a few weeks while staff schedule issues are resolved and training is finished. Famularo, who was born and raised in Palmer Township not far from the new site, declared, "We are ready to go." "We are going to accept whatever is presented to us."
Palmer's hours for the upcoming week are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday.
