A shopping mall in Northampton County is fully occupied as a national fashion chain prepares to open its first Lehigh Valley store. Trendy Man, a menswear company with over 25 locations in six states, is planning to open a retail store within the next few weeks at the Palmer Park Mall in Palmer Township.
The store, occupying an upgraded facility that originally housed American Eagle Outfitters, is tentatively planned to open Feb. 1. The mall’s roster features more than 40 tenants, including prominent chains such as Boscov’s, Spencer’s and Dairy Queen/Orange Julius and local favorites such as Freeman Jewelers, Spin Me Round, and Logan’s Sports Collectibles. Following the opening of Trendy Man will be another coming-soon tenant.
A second location of Ohana WonderTown Playground, a multi-level children's recreational facility, is expected to open in the first half of 2025. The new Palmer facility will have a similar idea as the South Mall location, with foam floors and bi-level, soft-play structures incorporating bridges, tunnels, slide boards, obstacle courses, ball pits, foam pits, climbing apparatus and more. There also will be small trampolines and a variety of ride-on toys. The new indoor playground will cover around 4,000 square feet, or 1,000 square feet bigger than the South Mall location. The design will differ from the South Mall facility in that it will feature two play areas—one for different age groups on each side of the space.
Other businesses opening at the Palmer Park Mall in 2024 include Blue Flame Events, featuring items from more than 100 local crafters and small businesses, including handcrafted home décor, toys, and fashion accessories; and Santalexa & Fitness Love, offering hair care products and services, eyelashes, and more.
The mall also bid farewell to a few shops over the past year:
American Eagle Outfitters, a popular clothing chain, closed its Palmer Park Mall store last January; Milford Furniture, selling a wide variety of household furnishings, closed its Palmer Park Mall store in March; and The Arcade Era, offering retro and modern arcade games, closed its Palmer Park Mall location in the summer, but it is continuing to operate a location at the Stroud Mall.
