At 1410 Grape St. in Whitehall Township, Thirsty Turtle Tavern, a full-service, family-friendly restaurant and bar serving casual American fare, is anticipated to open in March or April.
There used to be a Keystone Pub & Grill on the property, but it closed in September after 12 years of operation. The original Keystone Pub facility in Bethlehem Township, situated at 3259 Easton Ave., remains operational as usual. A group of workmen has been renovating the Whitehall area with new upgrades such as kitchenware, carpeting, and lighting. A new lounge area will include cozy chairs and an electric fireplace, while the walls will be lined with black subway tiles, rustic wood, and new bricks. Additionally, the restaurant's front section now has new partial walls that provide a more private eating experience and a space that can accommodate private gatherings of up to thirty people.
There will be about 200 seats available at Thirsty Turtle Tavern, spread over booths, low-top tables, and high-top seating. The owner wants the place to be a great place for all age groups with great food, great vibes, and affordable pricing. The menu at Thirsty Turtle Tavern will feature both international delicacies like sushi, tacos, and pasta meals in addition to American favorites like burgers and chicken wings. The restaurant will serve 20 appetizers, 20 burgers, 15 pizzas, and 20 handhelds. Nachos, taquitos, stuffed mushrooms, mac & cheese bits, boneless and traditional wings, tableside guacamole, spinach and artichoke dip, and poutine with pulled pork are just a few of the appetizers that can be shared.
There will be additional Italian options outside pizza, such as meatball skillet, penne vodka, and chicken parmigiana. Additionally, the restaurant's front section now has new partial walls that provide a more private eating experience and a space that can accommodate private gatherings of up to thirty people.
Thirsty Turtle Tavern is tentatively open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight and on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Thirsty Turtle Tavern will have a new epoxy bar top and a full bar with about 50 seats. The bar will serve a large selection of wines, classic and signature cocktails, and 25 draft beers. Patel also intends to install new windows that open to the front patio later this year, giving the bar area an al fresco feel on pleasant days. They intend to have 38 TVs, giving the feeling of a restaurant and sports bar.
Patel intends to open multiple Thirsty Turtle Taverns in the area, the first of which is the new Whitehall eatery. Patel is thinking about opening more restaurants in different areas, such as the Reading and Wyomissing areas, but no other locations have been finalized as of yet. In the coming months, Patel also intends to open a second Fat Patty's—a sports bar and casual dining concept with a burger specialty—in Toms River, New Jersey.
In Whitehall, Thirsty Turtle Tavern is replacing Keystone Pub’s former Whitehall location, which owner Savvas Kiprislis closed in September to spend more time with family and focus on running the pub’s Bethlehem Township location.Prior to Keystone Pub, the Whitehall site was home to a Lone Star Steakhouse.
