On Tuesday, July 8, Wiz Kidz, a restaurant with a retro 80s/90's vibe that serves cheesesteaks, fries, pierogies, and other items, launched a second location at 751 Union Blvd. in Allentown for takeaway and delivery orders. Dine in service starts end of July.Wiz Kidz, which closed its 3.5-year-old site on Freemansburg Avenue in Bethlehem Township in April to expand operations in the western part of the Lehigh Valley, has made a strategic move with the opening of the new eatery.
About five miles separated the company's initial Elizabeth Avenue facility in Bethlehem from its previous Freemansburg Avenue location, and the partners observed a significant overlap in delivery orders between the two locations. Wiz Kidz will be able to serve more individuals around the Lehigh Valley with the new Allentown facility, while the existing Elizabeth Avenue location will continue to run normally.
Although Freemansburg Avenue restaurant had a loyal customer base and did well, Allentown offered more room for expansion. The first Wiz Kidz site was established in 2018 at 65 E. Elizabeth Ave. in Bethlehem by Taylor and his partners, Cristian Duarte, Jerry Straub, and Matt Weaver. The Wiz Kidz app and website, wizkidzlv.com, allow patrons to purchase takeout and delivery in addition to dining in at the Bethlehem restaurant. The partners desire to limit delivery orders to locations eight miles from restaurants to preserve the freshness of the cuisine.
Wiz Kidz will be able to serve Allentown and surrounding communities, including Whitehall Township, with the new Allentown site. The new Allentown eatery will be located at the site where the partners have been producing their Bayou Boys Pierogies for the past five years. Wiz Kidz will launch gradually, including dine-in service in the coming weeks after initially only offering takeout and delivery.
The Allentown location will be given a "Wiz Kidz feel," a nod to the 1980s and 1990s, through repainting and other cosmetic changes. For the first week, the Allentown store will operate from 4 to 9 p.m. July 8th to July 13th, Sunday. Customers can place their orders online or over the phone at 610-351-5122.
