The beloved Bethlehem pizza store suffered damage from a fire almost two years ago. Now, the family-run business is moving to a new location in Christmas City!

According to co-owner Marc Kubushefski, Paranormal Pizza, which specializes in freshly cooked vegan pizza, has found a new physical location at 125 E. Third St. on Bethlehem's South Side.

The new facility will run between Martin's furniture store and King Wing, a restaurant serving gyros, chicken wings, "fat sandwiches," and other dishes. It is anticipated to open early in 2019. The original Paranormal Pizza site at 554 N. New St. in Bethlehem debuted for business in March 2022. However, a fire that destroyed the restaurant and upstairs apartments forced the store to temporarily close less than a year later, in February 2023. Along with his twin brother Joey Kubushefski, Kubushefski runs Paranormal Pizza. "We are excited for a fresh start in a new area," he said.

Since the area is now empty, we must first put in a lot of labor to outfit it. Our goal is to open there in 2025's first quarter. Due to problems with the landlord's insurance, the Kubushefskis' intentions to reopen Paranormal Pizza at its original New Street site were postponed, according to March. Marc remarked, "We should have been back in business a long time ago, but it was beyond our control." We had to move on after more than a year. We have to take action now.

Following the condemnation of Paranormal Pizza's former New Street location, the Kubushefskis have been using a food truck to host Paranormal Pop-Up events at other local establishments for over a year, including Yergey Brewing in Emmaus, Sherman Street Beer Company in Allentown, and Vegan Treats and Bonn Place Brewing Co. in Bethlehem. Customers may savor the company's vegan cheesesteaks (regular or buffalo), fries, loaded fries, onion rings, and chick'n sandwiches (Buffalo, barbecue, or garlic parm) at the pop-ups. Seitan wings (Buffalo, barbecue, garlic parm, and sauce of the month) are also available.

Marc added, "We have also been creating a gyro that is incredibly popular." It is a meat made from soy. Our cheesesteaks and chick'n sandwiches, such as the chick'n bacon ranch sandwich, are among our best-selling dishes. The Kubushefskis have been holding semi-regular Paranormal Pizza pop-up events at various Lehigh Valley eateries, such as Roasted on Fourth Street in south Bethlehem and Jay's Local on Liberty Street in Allentown's West End, to help satisfy customers' demands for pizza.

Using their ovens and other equipment, the Kubushefskis collaborate with these companies, and around a week and a half prior to the events, they usually start taking preorders for the pizzas. "In the upcoming months, we hope to host further pizza pop-ups," Marc stated. "We attempt to complete them every two weeks, but it is not always feasible."

The first physical location of Paranormal Pizza opened its doors in 2022, but the company's roots can be found in the beginning of the pandemic, when Marc started sharing pictures of his vegan pizzas on Instagram. The Kubushefskis decided to create a physical restaurant to meet the increasing demand for their pizzas after they attracted the attention of vegans throughout the Lehigh Valley. "Alien Bounty Hunter" (garlic knot crust, red sauce, cashew mozzarella, seitan pepperoni, Beyond Sausage, green peppers, onions, and mushrooms) and "Lone Gunmen" (olive oil, garlic, cashew mozzarella, oregano, crushed red pepper, chick'n, broccoli, and spicy agave) are two popular vegan pizzas. Other standout items on the menu are the chick'n sandwiches, seitan wings, and french fries.

With assistance from Bethlehem's Rising Tide Community Loan Fund, which has given the company a $200,000 loan for leasehold upgrades and working capital for its new space, the Kubushefskis are equipping the space in south Bethlehem.

The new Paranormal Pizza location will be part of a row of establishments that also houses F&A Grog House and U & TEA restaurants.

Lehigh County has become a destination for high-energy, action-packed adventures.

A press release stated that the Lehigh Valley Grand Prix, a renowned indoor go-kart racing facility located at 649 S. 10th St. in Allentown, presented a completely new go-kart track layout on Friday, promising guests "an unrivaled and innovative racing experience."

Despite the fact that independent, family-run hardware stores are becoming increasingly rare in the era of Aces and Home Depots, Center City has long had a locally owned "personal service business" on its corner.

Aykroyd Hardware celebrated its 70th year in business this April. Throughout that period, it has provided Center City, the larger Lehigh Valley, and beyond with product expertise, small- and large-scale customer project servicing, and nuts-and-bolts solutions.

The store at 743 N. New St. offers a variety of products, including "The Milwaukee Wall," which offers wholesale pricing on the approximately 150 different types of Milwaukee-brand tools that are kept on hand; "oddball" items like button-head socket screws in both standard and metric sizes; and a variety of lawn and gardening supplies.

In addition to many other services, Aykroyd provides locksmithing, paint color matching, product assembly, glass cutting, key programming and duplication, tool, screen, window, and light repair, as well as other services. The Bethlehem couple who founded the company in 1954, Arthur "Art" and Edith Aykroyd, are the grandparents of Peter Mickolay. Mickolay has been the store's manager for many years. He claimed that the selection is difficult to top, particularly when it goes above and beyond the strong foundation his ancestors laid.

Mickolay replied, casting a sidelong glance along the aisles, "You can buy one screw, or you can buy a box of 100." ".. Similar to that pipe, we can sell you by the foot or in entire 10-foot lengths. "We have wire in the rolls down there in the storeroom, or we sell it by the foot." He went on to say that clients can feel even more secure knowing that the Aykroyd crew believes in the products that are displayed. "We provide the individualized attention and expertise that big-box businesses typically do not provide," Mickolay stated. "I can speak from experience because I utilize a lot of the items that are here.

Thus, we give it a try, test it out, and ensure that the product is good. The store has received recognition from the community over the years for its personnel expertise, services, and assortment. A Google review from a satisfied customer, Jodi Williams, states that Aykroyd will "assist the customer who needs the thing-a-ma bob that keeps together the do-hickey on the side of the toilet flushy guy" on the store's website.

"[The store] is deceptively modest from the outside, but when you come inside, they have everything," says Michael Bianco in another review. No longer necessary to visit a big-box store. Mickolay mentioned two of his recent Austrian clients who were employed at Scranton's cold storage facilities while they were in the United States. After Aykroyd picked out some heated coats, the two of them drove the hour and a half to Bethlehem. At least in terms of location, Aykroyd has never gone too far from its origins. Approximately a quarter of a mile from its current location, the original Aykroyd store opened at the crossroads of Main and Goepp streets. In 1991, it relocated to its present location on New Street.

According to Mickolay, Gordon Payrow first gave his grandfather the building. People are probably familiar with that name; Payrow went on to become the mayor of the city from 1962 to 1973. After Art's death in 1985, Mickolay and his father Robert took over the business, he added. Up until last year, Edith, the grandmother of Peter and Art's wife, handled bookkeeping for the business. According to Mickolay, Aykroyd's 70th anniversary celebration fell on Edith's birthday.

Among many other recollections spanning decades, Mickolay recalled a particularly strong snowstorm in the mid-1990s, during which he and the staff at the store were outside shovelling snow, which eventually accumulated to the level of the nearby "no parking" sign.

In the future, According to Mickolay, Aykroyd buyers may expect a Tool Blitz sale event in the fall.

Premium coffee drinks and other house-made beverages, like rhubarb matcha lemonade and lemon fig soda, were also served.

The Colombian-born Perez stated, "Everything is created in-house with high-quality ingredients, and we are really trying to focus on distinctive, international sweets." Agamon has a wide range of rich cakes, such as vino cake (wine, nuts, fig, papaya, and cherries), tropical cake (passion fruit, cream cheese, and coconut), lavender cake (lavender, raspberries, lemon, and yogurt), and passion fruit cheesecake. Both full cakes and cake slices are available for purchase.

Other delicious dessert options include red fantasy (pistachio, cream cheese, raspberries, and white chocolate), matcha brownies (white chocolate, pistachio, praline, ordinary chocolate, and almond), and agamon (caramelized milk and rum).

Additionally, there is a self-serve display cabinet where patrons can select different baked delicacies using tongs. Options include brioche loaves with cheese, chocolate, dried tomato, mozzarella, and pesto and bacon; croissants with flavors including plain, Nutella, and ham and cheese; and puff pastries with flavors like chicken, fig, and caramel, Hawaiian (pineapple, ham, and cheese), and pastel gloria (guava, caramel, and cheese).

The Commodore's rooftop seventh level is home to the restaurant Thyme Rooftop Grille, which debuted in December with a progressive menu featuring top-notch New American cuisine. Early in August, Clever Girl Winery, which uses domestic and foreign grape juice to create hundreds of unique wines and sangrias, inaugurated a new tasting area on the ground floor, just next to Agamon. After opening its first Starbucks cafe, Westgate Mall underwent a makeover, adding a second fast-casual restaurant to its lineup. In the months ahead, other well-known companies will open up shop at the mall.

At 2417 Schoenersville Road in Bethlehem, a new QDOBA Mexican Eats restaurant debuted on Monday. The fast-casual Mexican eatery franchise has around 750 locations across the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

The restaurant, which has about fifty seats, is housed in an end unit of a recently built strip mall that was once the mall's interior. So Fresh and Tropical Smoothie Cafe, two other fast-casual food brands, are anticipated to occupy the building's two remaining units in the fall, according to Marjorie Kaplan, vice president of public relations at Axiom Communications, which is in charge of Westgate's communications.

A corporate description states that QDOBA specializes in freshly created, Mexican-inspired dishes that are "crafted with current tastes that guests want." "We take delight in producing meals in our kitchens every day, and we believe that the most exquisite flavors originate with great ingredients and meticulous preparation," the description says. "We do not take shortcuts when it comes to slicing crisp fruit, flame-grilling steak and chicken, or preparing handmade guacamole."

Highlights of the QDOBA menu include salads, nachos, tacos, bowls, quesadillas, and burritos. You have the option of selecting one of our classic recipes or using over 30 components to "make your own masterpiece." Proteins like brisket birria, grilled steak, grilled adobo chicken, seasoned ground beef, and slow-braised pulled pork are among the options. Along with other restaurant brands like Dave's Hot Chicken, The Greene Turtle, and Checkers, the corporation has more than 35 QDOBA locations in five states. The Integritty Group operates the first QDOBA site in the Lehigh Valley, which debuted in 2012 on MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township. "We are thrilled to be in Bethlehem, and the community has been incredibly helpful," stated Poonam Patel, the business development manager of The Integritty Group.

"We ran a campaign early in the morning, and there was a queue outside Starbucks before we even opened. The first 100 people in line received free burritos or bowls for a year. At 8:30 a.m., the first visitors arrived, and by 11:45 a.m., we had 100 individuals through the door. Thus, for a year, everyone of those visitors will be able to indulge in a burrito or bowl of their choice each month.

A brand-new full-service restaurant in Lehigh County that serves sushi, lo mein, pad Thai, tempura, fried rice, and other Asian dishes is drawing throngs of foodies.

In downtown Allentown, Ume Asian food, a restaurant that combines Thai, Chinese, and Japanese food to provide a “diverse culinary experience,” staged a soft opening on August 30 at 840 Hamilton St., Suite 100.

With seating for about 120 patrons, Ume serves a variety of dishes including salads and soups like kani salad, miso soup, and tom yum soup; appetizers from the kitchen like chicken lettuce wraps, Thai crispy calamari, pan-fried or steamed pork and vegetable dumplings, and skewers of beef, chicken, shrimp, or squid; and appetizers from the sushi bar like gyoza, shumai, salmon or tuna tartar, and Thai summer rolls with shrimp.

The proprietor, Ping Liu, stated that during the first week of business, the most popular rolls were spicy salmon, Dynamite, which is spicy tuna and avocado topped with hot crabmeat, and Hamilton Tower, which is shrimp tempura, avocado, and cucumber topped with lobster meat salad, jalapeño pepper chili, and sweet soy sauce.

A vast assortment of a la carte sushi or sashimi, including eel, red snapper, scallop, and salmon roe, as well as beef, chicken, pig, seafood, and vegetable meals, like Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, Hunan pork, Thai basil shrimp, and eggplant with garlic sauce, are also available to customers. With over 30 years of experience running regional restaurants, Ping's husband is assisting her in running Ume, and the Upper Macungie Township couple is thrilled to provide a fresh eating experience in downtown Allentown.

An enduring Lehigh Valley establishment, well-known for its delicious hot dogs and cheesesteaks, is almost prepared to start taking orders in Allentown.

The Brass Rail, a family-run, full-service restaurant that has been operating in Allentown for more than 90 years, would reopen on Thursday, September 12 in a fast-casual format at the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market. The restaurant closed its doors in June 2022.

"We are thrilled to be in our new house, which is in a fantastic location and marks a significant milestone for The Brass Rail. Being a member of the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market family also makes us very happy. We greatly appreciate all of the vendors' kindness, assistance, and welcome attitude.

The Brass Rail's new stand, located in a refurbished area of the market close to the lower-level grocery store, will serve a simplified menu consisting of the company's best-selling dishes. The stand will also provide breakfast sandwiches, such as bacon, egg, and cheese on toasted steak rolls, and steak, egg, and cheese since the market starts early.

On the lower level of the market, the Brass Rail will have a new booth with counter seating and a few high-top tables adjacent. There will be space for about 20 patrons to sit. "Those are going to be accessible until 10:30 a.m. Naturally, we will then provide hot dogs, French fries, pierogies, and cheesesteaks with chicken. A1 and California cheesesteaks are just two of the varieties available.

After 91 years of operation in Allentown, The Brass Rail closed its doors in June 2022. Previously, Royal Farms was going to develop the land into a convenience store. However, Sorrentino revealed to 69 News in December 2022 that the transaction to the Royal Farms convenience store operator had fallen through. Before the agreement fell through, Sorrentino stated at the time that Royal Farms requested multiple extensions. At that point, The Brass Rail's personnel had been let go and its equipment had been sold, thus reopening as a restaurant was out of the question.

In 1931, Philip Sorrentino, Sorrentino's grandfather, opened The Brass Rail as a hamburger and hot dog stand. The cuisine proved to be popular and quickly expanded, resulting in the opening of a physical restaurant at 1137 Hamilton St. in 1933, a debut at the Allentown Fair in 1938, and a second Allentown location on Lehigh Street in 1961. The restaurant in Allentown's downtown closed in 2001. Mark stated, "At our new location, we will have a few varieties of the cheesesteaks, like an A1 and a California, but the primary draw will still be Phil's original."

Several longstanding Brass Rail employees will be present at the business's new location at the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market alongside Mark and his wife, Leigh. Many market goers have inquired about the new stand's inauguration in recent months, indicating that the community is eager for The Brass Rail to make a comeback.

"People were often passing by to tell how pleased they are for us to be open again and asking us when we would be opening," Mark said. "People were there when we were there and even when my contractor was there." The Brass Rail will be open at the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market during regular market hours on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Mark remarked, "It has been a long path, but we are really excited to be back." "We are excited to see our regulars and meet new people as well." The newest addition to the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market excites Laurie Wuchter and her husband, Dan Wuchter, almost as much.

Laurie remarked, "Neither can we wait, and neither can many of our shoppers." Additionally, a few people have told me that they have not visited the market in years—some even stating that it has been almost 30 years—and they are eager to go back for The Brass Rail. Therefore, I believe that The Brass Rail will attract a large number of customers who, for whatever reason, stopped visiting the market to check out the full space and all of the incredible exhibitors.

The Brass Rail will be at the market, which opened at 1825 W. Chew St. , along with more than fifty other local vendors. According to Laurie, the market is currently completely occupied, and there are no openings since The Brass Rail opened.

Laurie remarked, "We are grateful for The Brass Rail's presence as well as for all of the other fantastic establishments here."

The wonderful local businesses that frequent it serve as evidence of the farmers market's strength and popularity.

Mount Pocono's Mount Airy Casino Resort has been ranked among the nation's top 10 casino hotels. 

Mount Airy Casino Resort is ranked seventh on USA TODAY's list of the "Top 10 Best Casino Hotels. It is Pennsylvania's only casino hotel to be included on the list. 

The hotels on the USA TODAY Best Casino Hotels list have both gaming and facilities.

According to USA TODAY, the Top 10 Best Casino Hotels for 2024 are:

2. Yaamava' Resort & Casino at San Manuel, California

3. Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada

4. Ocean Casino Resort, Atlantic City, N.J.

7. Mount Airy Casino Resort, Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania

8. Resorts Casino Hotel, Atlantic City

9. Graton Resort & Casino, Sonoma County, California

10. ARIA Resort & Casino, Las Vegas

Ben Koff, general manager and COO of Mount Airy, stated, "Mount Airy is more than just a great destination for gaming, eating, and entertainment—it is a place where a strong sense of community and enthusiasm prevails." 

Comedian extraordinaire Caroline Rhea will be performing at Mount Airy on September 14th. Thunder from Down Under, an Australian dance revue, will be performing on November 29 and 30th.

A well-known restaurant brand is expanding its presence in the Lehigh Valley. 

A grand opening celebration is scheduled for September 14 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Promenade Saucon Valley in Upper Saucon Township. Five Guys Burgers & Fries is a family-owned and operated franchise restaurant group that is well-known for its hand-crafted hamburgers made from never-frozen beef and fresh-cut, boardwalk-style fries cooked in 100% peanut oil.

Located at 3045 Mall Valley Parkway, the 2,407-square-foot new Five Guys restaurant will be open between uBreakiFix and European Wax Center in the outdoor lifestyle shopping mall. The grand opening event, which is being held in collaboration with Rockham 5G and the Southern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce, will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. The Lorton, Virginia-based Five Guys is well-known for its freshly made burgers that come with an endless array of free topping options, such as pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, relish, barbecue sauce, and hot sauce.

The restaurants in the network only use fresh ground beef; freezers are not present; only coolers are. More than 1,700 Five Guys restaurants may be found globally now, more than 30 years after the original restaurant's opening. These include over a dozen regional outlets in the Lehigh Valley, Poconos, and Berks and Bucks counties. The newest Five Guys restaurant in the neighborhood debuted on Whitehall's MacArthur Road last year.

The firm website states that another 1,500 units are under development. In an April press release, Drew Smith, the new Five Guys' franchise owner and operator, said, "We are thrilled and excited to open our newest Five Guys facility in Center Valley."

This will be Pennsylvania's 66th Five Guys store. We are making it even simpler for visitors from the Lehigh Valley to stop by for a bite with our new location at the lovely Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley.
