James Balliet, president of the shopping center's leasing team, The James Balliet Property Group, has stated that a new Jimmy John's location, which is renowned for its "freaky fresh" sandwiches, is anticipated to open in the early summer at the Schoenersville Centre, 3215 Schoenersville Road, Bethlehem.

The new restaurant will take over the location of the former A1 Steak House II. With over 2,600 outlets nationwide, Jimmy John's used to be based in the Lehigh Valley. The business had no presence in the Lehigh Valley for over three years after closing a location on Mill Creek Road in 2018 and another on William Penn Highway in Palmer Township in 2021.

Inspire Brands, a multi-brand restaurant corporation that also owns Arby's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dunkin', SONIC Drive-In, and Rusty Taco, purchased Jimmy John's in October 2019. There are still over two dozen Jimmy John's restaurants open in Pennsylvania, including regional outposts in Lancaster and Philadelphia.  Jimmy John Liautaud founded Jimmy John's in 1983 in the college town of Charleston, Illinois.

All day long, Jimmy John's French bread and 9-grain wheat bread are prepared and served within four hours of being taken out of the oven. Every day, fresh slices of provolone cheese and premium meats such as Genoa salami, capocollo, roast beef, turkey, and ham are made in-store. Every day, employees in every store also cut lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and celery by hand.

The company's website states, "We just roll with fresh food made from scratch."

Other foods served there are desserts like fudge chocolate brownies and chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and red velvet cookies are among the other menu highlights, as are sides like pesto bowtie pasta salad, chips, dill pickles, and homestyle potato salad.

The Schoenersville Centre, where the Bethlehem Jimmy John's will be located, is also the location of Moe's Southwest Grill, Saladworks, and Starbucks, among other eateries.

The business is a family operation, with the Bachstein family. The Bachstein family has passed down a trait of hunting down and collecting unique antiques through generations.

The family's huge personal collection of antiques has been collected over decades via auctions, estate sales and other antique businesses.

Blackbird Antiques will feature a wide assortment of antiques and vintage pieces, including furniture such as chairs and coffee tables; artwork such as paintings and sculptures; tableware such as glasses and mugs; and various decorative and functional items such as lamps, pottery, cut glass, pressed glass, duck decoys and record players.

There also will be a small range of vintage apparel and fashion accessories such as jewelry and hats. Blackbird Antiques, whose name was partially inspired by the Bachsteins' affection for legendary writer Edgar Allan Poe and one of his iconic works, "The Raven," will occupy a soon-to-be-updated facility that was formerly home to a thrift shop.

The family is intending to add new wall paint and other cosmetic touches to the home.

Wondaffle will have space for about 40 patrons. The owners are excited for this new store in the amazing South Bethlehem area. 

Wondaffle will serve a variety of locally manufactured waffles, such as trademark Liege waffles, bubble waffles, waffle cones, and waffle bowls, in addition to delectable combinations of Batch's handcrafted, ultra-premium ice cream. The partners acquired the idea for Wondaffle after witnessing the waffles and ice cream concept gaining in popularity in other parts of the country, notably Southern states and California.

The Nazareth Borough Park is poised to double in size, now that borough council has signed off on the purchase of an adjacent wooded area known as Black Rock Woods.

The council voted 7-2 to acquire the 41-acre property, which is one-and-a-half acres larger than the size of the current park on N. Broad Street. The park has amenities such as a public pool, playground, baseball field, pavilions, and basketball courts. The purchase price is $700,000, but half of that will be paid for by a grant from the state. The borough is buying the land from the Nazareth Moravian Church. It was part of the original Nazareth tract, going back to the borough's roots in the 1700s.

The deal will likely close next month. The borough intends to keep the property very similar to the way it is now. There will be no development on the site, except for the addition of some walking trails. The council knows to buy property that big; that opportunity doesn’t come along every day.

The owner, Angel Correa, established The Game Gallery in 2012, originally operating the business at 249 Northampton St. in downtown Easton before moving operations later that year to a larger, nearby space at 315 Northampton St. The Game Gallery operated at 315 Northampton St. for more than a decade before Correa decided to relocate the business again in 2023 to 349 Northampton St., about a block west of its longstanding spot. The 2023 move was primarily due to increasing rent.  At its former Northampton Street location, The Game Gallery featured a back room where customers could play dozens of arcade games, but its new Northampton Street space did not allow for that.

The 349 Northampton St. site previously housed restaurants, including Gino’s Pizza and, most recently, HOZA African Restaurant, and a full kitchen remains. The roughly 250 arcade machines have been in storage for the past two years, and Correa’s been looking for a new venue that could accommodate both the expansive arcade entertainment as well as The Game Gallery’s growing retail component. The new space is around 5,000 square feet, giving us room to expand our video game selection and other merchandise, but the big thing is that we can finally bring back our arcade machines. So many people, including myself, have missed the arcade, and it’s coming back bigger and better than ever. Individuals can get the latest updates, including an official opening announcement for the new Game Gallery location, by following the business’ pages on Facebook and Instagram. At its new location, The Game Gallery will be able to feature more than 200 arcade cabinets, 16 pinball machines and nine Japanese-style, sit-down machines, dubbed “candy cabinets."

The Palmer Township Board of Supervisors authorized the completion of a settlement agreement involving two developers and a possible development on Van Buren Road Tuesday night at the administration office.

The settlement includes Exchange 12 LLC and developer Abraham Atiyeh, who filed a substantive challenge and curative amendment for a proposed complex dubbed "Villages at Palmer," which would have featured 182 prefabricated homes. The property for the proposed development is located at 1492 Van Buren Road, near the southeast corner of Van Buren Road and Newlins Mill Road and bound on the west by Route 33. Before proposing mobile homes on the property, Atiyeh had earlier suggested two distribution facilities.

More recently, Atiyeh contended the township's zoning law is invalid because it does not allow mobile home parks. To rectify the issue, Exchange 12 proposed amendments, and hearings on the curative amendment occurred at various times throughout last year. Supervisors OK'd a settlement between Atiyeh and developer Lou Pektor's Greystone Capital which allows Greystone to settle litigation involving the property and then propose its own development on the property.

Pektor's proposed development plans for the construction of 92 houses and 320 apartments on the land. Of the 320 flats, 70 units would be one bedroom, with 57 others including one bedroom and a den. The majority of the flats—158—would be two bedrooms, with 55 apartments comprising two beds and a den. With all 320 units have an average square footage of 1,185.

There will be an outdoor recreation area, a dog park, and a trail for bicyclists and walkers. Additionally, they will keep some of the land as open space.

When the shutdown was announced, many Slate Belt locals expressed their sadness on social media, as it had been a beloved first-run theater for decades. However, those same individuals are now rejoicing over its upcoming reopening.

The people's opinions will be very important in deciding what kinds of films the cinema will eventually screen. Every movie genre was represented in the more than 150 responses to a social media question asking patrons what they would want to see: kid-friendly material, classics like The Wizard of Oz, more recent classics like Star Wars, musicals, anime, westerns, etc. The majority of the films that will be screened will be in 35mm and 16mm formats. He has hired Michael and Kaitlyn Drumbore, a Pen Argyl couple, to oversee daily operations at the Gap.

The Gap will have a soft opening in late February or early March. The owner has made the decision to withhold the details. Guerro emphasizes that ensuring a happy conclusion for this comeback tale will depend on getting people in the seats. The owner is extremely excited to open up this theater again for all to enjoy!

A 4% tax rate increase is part of the budget plan that the East Penn School District's officials outlined for the 2025–2026 academic year.

The ACT 1 Index, which establishes the highest tax increase for each district in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, was approved by a special session of the Pennsylvania legislature in 2006. Voter approval or an exception from the state Department of Education would be needed for higher rates.

EPSD does not satisfy the prerequisites for obtaining PDE exceptions over the authorized index, according to the Act 1 Index calculation. The district agrees to "opt out" and not raise taxes over the set rate of 4% in light of this and because it does not want to ask voters for approval beyond the Act 1 Index.

The overall revenue is projected to reach $194 million in 2025–2026, while expenses are expected to reach $207 million. The budget reveals a $3.1 million shortfall when all elements, including fund balance, are taken into account. The largest source of municipal revenue is real estate taxes, for which the district is unable to collect 100% due to a few concessions.

For example, taxes paid in the year that farmland is maintained are frozen at the same rate. In a similar vein, the district provides seniors who fulfill specific conditions with reimbursements.
